Is GoodTherapy.org an approved CE provider?
Yes. GoodTherapy.org is approved to provide continuing education by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) and the California Board of Behavior Sciences (BBS). GoodTherapy.org's CE events are also approved by the American Psychological Association for psychologists; APA approval applies to all CE events as of May 2011.
NBCC provider No. 6830
BBS provider No. 4678
APA provider No. 26217774
These continuing education approvals are accepted by most state licensing boards for social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, and/or psychology. Please check with your state licensing board to verify that CE credits approved by one or all of these organizations are accepted for your license.
How many CE credits can I get from GoodTherapy.org?
There is no limit to the number of CE credits a member can earn by accessing GoodTherapy.org's live events and archived recordings. Most of our CE events award 1.5 credits. For any live events you attend or archived recordings you access, you may download a CE certificate upon completion, documenting your CE credits. GoodTherapy.org generally offers three new live CE events per month.
Can I get CE credits for accessing archived events?
Absolutely. Recordings of all live CE events are made available within two weeks of the conclusions of the live presentations. You can access all recorded events in the Members' Area of the Continuing Education Archive. To receive CE credits for an archived event, you will need to complete a survey as well as a 12-question exam, verifying that you listened to or watched the event in its entirety. Archived CE events generally are considered "homestudy" by licensing boards and are available with the same sponsor approvals (APA, NBCC, and BBS) as live events.
Who presents GoodTherapy.org's continuing education events?
GoodTherapy.org's CE events are presented by leading thinkers, innovators, researchers, authors, and practitioners in the fields of psychotherapy, counseling, clinical social work, psychology, and/or marriage and family therapy. Our presenters specialize in a variety of clinical topics, and are selected and reviewed by our Continuing Education Committee. If you are looking for a specific presenter, just click on "Search CE Events" tab at the top of this page and type in the first or last name of the presenter you are looking for.
How long are GoodTherapy.org's CE web conferences?
The majority of our CE presentations are 90 minutes and award 1.5 credits. However, several CE events are offered as part of a series, available with more credits for attending or listening to all sections of the series. Most of our CE events are scheduled on Fridays at 9 a.m. Pacific (12 p.m. Eastern).
How do I get a CE certificate?
GoodTherapy.org members may receive a CE certificate verifying their CE credits for any live or archived CE event they attend. To request a CE certificate:
How can I register for a GoodTherapy.org CE event?
To register for an upcoming CE event, simply select the event you are interested in from our list of upcoming events. From the event's page, click on the green "Register" button at the right side of the page. If you are not logged in already, you will be prompted to log in with your GoodTherapy.org username and password, and then you will be registered. You will receive reminder emails with participation instructions the week before the live event.
You do not need to register for an event to access the archived recording. All CE recordings in the GoodTherapy.org Continuing Education Archive are available at any time.
How much do GoodTherapy.org's CE events cost?
All of GoodTherapy.org's CE events are available at no additional cost to GoodTherapy.org members. To learn more about GoodTherapy.org's benefits of membership or to join today, click here.
Are the CE courses considered live events?
If you dial in to a GoodTherapy.org CE event being presented in "real time," then the event is considered a live event. If you choose to access recordings of the event in the GoodTherapy.org Continuing Education Archive, then you are accessing what most CE sponsors call a "home-study program."
Are the CE courses considered teleconferences or web conferences?
The majority of our CE events are offered as live teleconferences, with audio-only recordings available in the Continuing Education Archive two weeks after the live event. However, many events also are available as video recordings. In the near future, all of GoodTherapy.org's CE events will be offered with a live, online video broadcast.
