Super Supervision: Enhancing the Supervisory Alliance

Presented by Toni Rose Mieses, LMHC on 09-29-2023 at 9 a.m. Pacific (noon Eastern) to 11 a.m. Pacific (2 p.m. Eastern)

Through an integrative approach, this 2-hour continuing education training for clinical supervisors provides a supervision framework to use when developing therapist’s competence. The course will review the current state of clinical supervision in counseling and anchor in supervision theory from leading researchers in the field.

In this webinar, Toni Rose Mieses, LMHC will review the multifaceted roles supervisors play from teachers, to coaches, to gatekeepers. She will review how those roles impact therapists’ development and identify other factors that have strong influence on the supervision process. In addition, she will introduce tools and skills that can be used to maximize a supervisor-supervisee alliance and increase trust. Attendees will walk away from the training with a framework for supervision that will create stronger clinicians and support the quality of clients’ therapeutic experience.

This introductory web conference is designed to help mental health professionals:

  1. Describe the current landscape and uses of supervision in the clinical field, including the different roles supervisors have.
  2. Identify at least two different interventions to understand therapists’ development.
  3. Explain skills that will assist in building trust with supervisees while increasing supervisee's knowledge and skill for best clinical practice.
