GoodTherapy.org provides a public service to individual consumers who may access the GoodTherapy.org website (“Users”) for mental health information, to find a mental health provider listed in the GoodTherapy.org Therapist Directory (“Members”), or to seek inpatient or outpatient services from a Facility listed in the GoodTherapy.org Rehab and Treatment Center Directory (“Facilities”).
Information Collection and Use
GoodTherapy.org collects information from Users at a number of different points on our website.
(A) When a User sends an email to a Member or Facility through the GoodTherapy.org website, the User’s name, phone number, email address, and message is recorded as part of the transmission process.
This information is kept confidential and is made available only to (1) trained GoodTherapy.org support team members for purposes of administering GoodTherapy.org, such as moderating for spam or other content that is in violation of GoodTherapy.org terms of service, (2) the Member or Facility to whom the User sends the email. GoodTherapy.org never rents, sells, or gives this information to any other third party.
When a User emails a Member or Facility through the GoodTherapy.org email messaging system, the User is conveniently and automatically emailed a notification when the therapist or Facility has been contacted. Additionally, when a User emails a Member or Facility through the GoodTherapy.org email messaging system, they may opt in to a subscription to our email newsletters. Users may unsubscribe from this email newsletter by completing the unsubscribe form found here.
(B) When a User calls a Member or Facility through the telephone number posted on the GoodTherapy.org website, standard caller identification information is collected and forwarded to the Member or Facility, and may be stored by GoodTherapy.org for use in administering its services. GoodTherapy.org never rents, sells, or gives this information to any third party.
(C) GoodTherapy.org collects information entered by Members or Facilities when they register/apply for inclusion into the GoodTherapy.org Therapist Directory or the Rehab and Treatment Center Directory. This information about Members and Facilities are made public and can be viewed on GoodTherapy.org. The GoodTherapy.org Network and, as a result of being made public, viewed on other third party websites that may have copied this information with or without GoodTherapy.org’s permission. What is commonly considered to be private information (including but not limited to username, email address, password, etc.) is kept private in a database and may be used by our internal departments if needed (such as debugging errors or analyzing outcome of marketing campaigns) as required. GoodTherapy.org never rents, sells, or gives this information to any other third party.
(D) GoodTherapy.org collects User email addresses when Users subscribe to the blog. This email address is used to send such Users blog post or blog comment summaries and Users can unsubscribe anytime using unsubscribe option(s) found in the email and/or on the site. GoodTherapy.org never rents, sells, or gives this information to any other third party.
(E) GoodTherapy.org collects information entered by Users when they register (or try to register) for a public web conference or public non-professional membership. This information (including but not limited to name, username, email address, password, etc.) is kept private in a database and may be used by our internal departments if needed (such as debugging errors or analyzing outcome of marketing campaigns) as required. GoodTherapy.org never rents, sells, or gives this information to any other third party.
(F) GoodTherapy.org does not store credit card information on our servers. All credit card transactions are processed through either an SSL FirstData supported payment page and all such data is stored on the FirstData server OR through an SSL supported BrainTree (PayPal) payment page and all such data is stored on the BrainTree (PayPal) server.
GoodTherapy.org uses Google Analytics Advertising Features. This includes, but is not limited to, user-directed marketing, geographic-directed marketing, remarketing with Google Analytics, Google Display Network Impression Reporting, DoubleClick Platform Integrations, and Google Analytics Demographics and Interest Reporting.

No personally-identifiable information collected by GoodTherapy.org will be merged with non-personally identifiable information collected through any Google advertising product or feature.
(H) GoodTherapy.org may use other web analytics services and/or software to collect information about users’ browsing activities. This information is used to analyze the performance of the website and associated marketing campaigns. Some of the services/software like Google Analytics may store this information on their own servers.
(I) GoodTherapy.org may use AdWords, Facebook, or other third party remarketing, sometimes called retargeting, to market our website(s) across the Internet. Google, Facebook, or other third party sites place a cookie on a browser. Google, Facebook, or third party sites read cookies and may present a GoodTherapy.org ad on a third party site. (J) Users of GoodTherapy.org who submit questions via "Dear GoodTherapy.org" or the "Ask a Question" form acknowledge that their questions may be published on GoodTherapy.org and made public at the discretion of GoodTherapy.org. By submitting content through the “Dear GoodTherapy.org” or “Ask a Question” forms, Users give their consent to publish the submitted content. Users understand that it is their responsibility to exclude any identifying information from their submission, even though GoodTherapy.org will make reasonable efforts to remove identifying information. Users who submit questions to “Dear GoodTherapy.org” or “Ask a Question” understand that not all submissions will be responded to and, those that are, generally take four weeks or longer to publish.
(K) Users who opt-in to subscribe to our Newsletter will be sent occasional email updates on helpful resources related to therapy and counseling.
GoodTherapy.org does not sell or otherwise provide personally identifiable information collected through its website and services to third parties, except as specifically authorized by the User, Member or Facility, such as a Member profile, blog post, User email to a Member, or other authorized disclosures of information. GoodTherapy.org may disclose personally identifiable information about Users or Members, if such disclosure is (a) required by subpoena, law, or other legal process; (b) necessary to assist law enforcement officials or government enforcement agencies; (c) necessary to investigate violations of or otherwise enforce our Terms of Service for Members or Terms of Service and Use; (d) necessary to protect us from legal action or claims from third parties including you and/or other Users or Members; and/or (e) necessary to protect the legal rights, personal/real property, or personal safety of GoodTherapy.org, our Users, Members, employees, and affiliates. Additionally, GoodTherapy.org reserves the right to disclose personally identifiable information about a User or Member if GoodTherapy.org reasonably believes that using or disclosing such information may prevent physical harm to one or more individuals or public safety.
Like most standard website servers, GoodTherapy.org uses log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track users’ movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information contained in user profiles.

Additionally, Users may have to provide a payment source (i.e. credit card) to access special products or services on GoodTherapy.org. Users, Members and Facilities understand that GoodTherapy.org uses FirstData or BrainTree (PayPal) to process payment in exchange for providing our website and/or services. Users, Members, and Facilities understand and agree that we cannot control nor can we be liable for the acts of FirstData or BrainTree (PayPal). If you see what you believe to be fraudulent transactions regarding payments to our website, please contact us immediately. We will work with you, FirstData and/or BrainTree (PayPal), and authorities as best we can to help resolve such issues.
Our Email Policy
GoodTherapy.org and our affiliates fully comply with the CAN-SPAM Act as enacted in the United States. You can always opt out of receipt of further email correspondence from GoodTherapy.org and/or our affiliates. We agree that we will not sell, rent, or trade your email address to any unaffiliated third-party.
Our Security Policy
GoodTherapy.org uses reasonable safeguards to protect personally identifiable information about Users, Members or Facilities. When our registration/order form asks users to enter sensitive financial information (such as credit card number), that information is encrypted and is protected with SSL. All personally identifiable information we store about Users, Members, and Facilities is required to be stored only in authorized, secured servers or media in secure facilities. Only GoodTherapy.org administrators or employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing clerk or a customer service representative) are granted access to such personally identifiable information. All administrators and employees are trained and kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices. Any time new policies are added, our administrators and employees are trained in the policies.
