My Approach to Helping
We are all drawn to therapy for a variety of reasons - maybe we're navigating a new time in our life, exploring our relationships with others, or figuring out what it means to be ourselves. These complex processes happen within larger systems that impact the ways in which we think, feel, and act.
Our social identities inform how we experience the world - and how the world perceives us. With a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive approach, I hope to understand your concerns, validate your struggles, highlight your strengths, and challenge your thoughts. You are the expert of your lived experiences. I offer you a space where we work together in service of your growth.
I tailor my practice to your needs by combining my training in different modalities to increase your self-awareness and help you live a life that is better aligned to your values. I invite you to schedule a free phone consultation with me.
More Info About My Practice
I specialize in working with adults who are exploring what their race, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality mean to them, experiencing anxiety and depression, adjusting to new environments, or working on improving their communication with loved ones.
During sessions, I combine my knowledge of psychodynamic theory, emotionally focused therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy with an anti-oppressive lens to help you better understand how you can use your strengths to navigate everyday life.
I received my Certificate in Family and Couples Therapy at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy. I obtained my Master of Social Work from New York University and Bachelor of Arts in Public Health from Brown University. I previously interned with the Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights and the Children's Day Unit at the New York State Psychiatric Institute.
What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process
There's no right or wrong way to "do therapy." You've already thought about how you can better show up for yourself, so I'll support you in this journey. During our phone consultation, I'd love to hear about what brings you to therapy now and what you'd like to focus on.
