What's My Approach to Therapy?
I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults in school, community mental health, and private practice settings for the last five years. I specialize in providing psychotherapy to Black women and other women of color needing assistance with navigating life within their intersections of identity. I work with young people who are struggling with navigating their emerging adulthood, asking themselves what it is they want to accomplish with this life. I help individuals who are realizing that they do not want to live up to unrealistic expectations of productivity and achievement. If you are stressed, if you are unhappy, if you are angry, or if you simply need an unbiased ear to listen, I would like to be of service to you. Therapy is extremely personal, and I work with clients to process their emotions and explore which direction they would want their path to take next, no matter how long that takes.
I believe in being empathetic and deliberate when it comes to the therapeutic experience. I hope that my clients will feel a great deal of comfort with me because it’s my job to provide the space that allows them to let their guards down gradually. I want you to remember that you have autonomy in this space, and the process is completely for you. I tend to say, “You are the driver of this car, and I’m just here to help you not crash.” Hopefully, you feel safe enough to trust me with the journey.
