When you woke up this morning, what was the first thought on your mind? What thoughts followed? Were they positive or negative and how was the rest of your day impacted? These are questions we may not always think of, but the thought process is there. If we wake up and say, oh god, here we go again-another day to get through then the things we say and do after that tend to follow suit in that same negative or defeating manner. Focusing on changing negative thoughts to positive thoughts can lead to more positive outcomes. This is not to say the expectation is always be positive, but working towards finding the good in the bad can be a good start. Of course this is just one approach and everyone is an individual so focusing on your needs and what works best for you is the goal.

More Info About My Practice

I facilitate anger management and parenting programs for offenders and general adult populations. The curriculums are designed for those who have had situations that may have led to incarcerations, loss of relationships and other areas that have impacted their freedoms on different levels. These programs are offered to probationers and volunteers alike and are group sessions. I provide individual therapy in anger management, anxiety and depression as well.

My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'

A diagnosis of mental health disorders tends to carry with it a stigma that can be emotionally crippling or devastating. Often times you might receive a diagnosis and have no idea what it means then that leads to feeling worse. I aim to help people understand what they are feeling through their own words and what they are going through in terms of how their daily lives are affected. Label avoidance is something we do when we do not seek help because we do not want the stigma or association of negativity with it. My goal is to help you see your strengths and limitations to give you the best help I can without the term disorder attached to it.
