My Approach to Helping

Therapy is a unique experience that can be challenging, yet it tends to offer great rewards. In fact, self-work is a large contributor to helping us achieve progress in our lives. The difficult thoughts and feelings that we hold deep within ourselves, can negatively impact our mood, success, health and overall happiness; that is, until we make the brave decision to unearth, examine, and learn from them in the therapeutic process.

I have 8 years of experience as a therapist supporting and empowering clients in achieving their unique therapeutic and life goals. I work alongside my clients as they embark on a journey of diving deep into self-exploration, developing actionable insights, navigating relationships, and identifying and expressing emotional needs. Further, we work together to build and enhance skills to manage and ultimately discard distressing thoughts, feelings, and symptoms. This process integrates a number of evidence-based therapeutic approaches including psychodynamic (insight-oriented) therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, as well as other solution-focused and mindfulness-based techniques. While I help clients with many types of difficulties, I have particular expertise in the treatment of anxiety, depression, work stress, culture and identity issues, adult ADHD, trauma, and relational problems at work, with partners, friends, and family.

I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the City College of New York. In addition, I have two master's degrees, one in Social Work from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and a Masters of Science degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. I completed my doctoral clinical internship at Hartford Hospital’s Institute of Living in Hartford, Connecticut and I trained in the University of Michigan's Department of Psychiatry Outpatient services. In addition to working seven years in private practice, I have worked in inpatient and outpatient hospital settings at major medical centers, providing care to young and older adults, high-level professionals, and college students. I have worked with people from diverse backgrounds, and cultures, and those from the LGBTQ community.
