My Approach to Helping
The therapeutic relationship is a sacred interpersonal bond built on trust. Together, we’ll co-create a space to overcome your obstacles, shift lifestyle or behavioral patterns, and tap into your innate capacity for resilience.
I view my work through an anti-oppressive social justice lens, which will deepen your understanding of how your environment, your family, and your community can impact you. We may explore anything from the trickle down effect of workplace stress, to the impact of media violence on children, or anything else that you may have on your mind. By identifying your strengths, your confidence, self esteem, and ability to handle life’s challenges will increase.
While I center your story in our work together, I draw on my own experiences as an African American woman of color, parent of two, and poet when appropriate. For instance, my personal experience as an artist informs my understanding of the anxiety many creatives, writers, musicians, and entertainers face in their lives.
Asking for help is not easy, but taking the first step is the hardest part in your journey to finding clarity. I invite you to open your mind to the possibility of sharing your story in a place with no judgment and where you can be your full self.
