My Approach to Helping
Throughout our lives, we receive messages from our family, our friends, the media, and society about who we are meant to be. This could make you feel like you don’t fit in or something is intrinsically wrong with you, especially if you grew up around abuse, addiction, or general family dysfunction.
On the road to personal growth, deconstructing those assumptions and writing your own unique narrative can build self compassion and understanding. I work with clients to discover new insights about themselves so they can move away from self criticism and toward self acceptance.
My approach is rooted in psychodynamic therapy, which emphasizes how our pasts impact our present so that we can choose new ways of thinking, behaving, and being. Through other modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Gestalt Therapy, I create a space for clients to foster a deeper connection with themselves and the world around them.
