My Approach to Helping
I am a warm, compassionate and empathic therapist which, in combination with extensive training and skills developed over many years in practice, enables me to work successfully with people who are dealing with a wide variety of issues including stress, anxiety, depression, social anxiety, academic and career concerns, trauma, grief, health issues and life transitions.
Because each individual is unique, I utilize different approaches including Psychodynamic therapy, Hypnotherapy, andor CBT, among others, to find the best fit for you. Hypnotherapy can be very helpful in treating a variety of issues including stress, anxiety, insomnia, phobias, and GI issues such as IBS. CBT addresses negative and self-defeating patterns of thinking and behaviors that may be impacting your life and keeping you stuck and unable to move forward. I also provide stress management and mindfulness training.
My area of expertise is working with young adults and adults. I spent several years working at the NYU Counseling Services providing psychotherapy to students from diverse backgrounds who were dealing with academic, social, and relationship challenges in Bachelor, Master, and PhD Programs. My practice has always been very diverse and includes people from many different life experiences. In my own life, I have been lucky to have been able to travel extensively and, as a child and adolescent, to live in different parts of the world, including East and West Africa. I have found that these experiences enrich my practice on a daily basis.
