What's My Approach to Therapy?
Hello and welcome. We all strive to feel happy and fulfilled in our lives but unhealthy patterns of feeling or thinking often leave us feeling dissatisfied, lost or stuck, and without a sense of who we really are. Although we make our best efforts to make positive changes on our own, we may reach a point where the support and guidance of a trained professional can help facilitate these changes.
With over 20 years offering therapy to individuals and couples, I specialize in helping people address a range of issues such as phobias and anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, relationship challenges, body image and weight concerns, abuse, and trauma. I can also effectively assist you in managing stress, particularly career-related stress. In addition, I help people deal with grief, health difficulties, perfectionism, procrastination, creative blocks, and to navigate major life changes.
I'm supportive and interactive in my style and offer a private, judgment-free space to express your thoughts and feelings. It is essential to me that you feel safe, fully accepted and heard throughout our work together. As we explore your issues in depth, I remain focused on your particular therapy goals and strive to help you reach them.
Therapy can help you identify your needs, better understand yourself, and implement practical solutions for your problems. False beliefs, such as the idea that you are unworthy, incompetent, inadequate, or weak, can make you feel hopeless about life. This hopelessness impedes your ability to live a fulfilling life and to feel genuinely happy. I'll help you change these patterns while accessing your unique resources and strengths. Through a renewed sense of self-confidence and greater self-awareness, you'll be able to authentically connect with others and boost the quality of your relationships. You'll be more empowered to make healthy choices while creating lasting, positive changes.
Some individuals thrive with a short-term and solution-focused approach. This style helps you learn skills to address specific challenges more immediately. At other times, therapy can be a gradual, longer term, in-depth process to help you achieve your goals. Everyone needs something a little different. I'll collaborate with you to determine what you need, tailoring my treatment approach to your unique situation.
People seek therapy for different reasons and the choice to get professional help can be daunting. If you're reading this then you have already taken that first step. I believe that discovering your true potential and becoming the best version of yourself is possible and I look forward to being your companion on that journey!

My Guiding Ethical Principles
I believe people are not broken, but are shaped by early relationships, life experiences, losses, and the ways they learned to survive. What often shows up as anxiety, shame, self-criticism, or feeling stuck makes so much sense when understood with care and context. I believe healing happens when these patterns are met with curiosity, compassion, and skill rather than judgment. Therapy, to me, is a deeply relational process- one that creates safety in the nervous system, invites honesty, and allows all parts of a person to be understood and integrated. I have deep respect for human resilience and inner wisdom, and I believe that with the right support, people can soften long-held defenses, repair trust with themselves and others, and move forward with greater freedom, self-trust, and a renewed sense of possibility...and hope.
