In my thirty years of practice, I have developed particular expertise in helping people change patterns of feeling, thinking and behaving that prevent them from living more fulfilling lives. In the course of our work together, you will discover what prevents you from getting more of what you want in life. In the process, you will learn to trust your instincts so that you find your own answers, enjoy the pleasure of self acceptance, a wider range of feelings, deeper self awareness, and the empowerment to achieve what you want in work and relationships.

You will be able to count on my sensitivity to your feelings as well as my honesty. I will share with you my thoughts and feelings as I listen. I will help you feel what you are thinking and think about what you are feeling because both are vital for real change. As a result, you can anticipate having an experience that positively changes the way you feel and think about yourself and others.

You can expect me to create an environment that feels welcoming and non-judgmental, so that you feel safe enough to open up. This is important because thoughtful, emotional risk taking is essential for lasting change. From the relationship that develops between us, you will learn a lot about what happens in all your relationships as, together, we forge more of the kind of relationships you want, including with yourself.

More Info About My Practice

I do not participate as an "in network" provider for any insurance company. However, my services are credentialed for out of network benefits. Most insurance companies offer some out of network mental health benefits and I will provide any information and guidance you may need to submit your claims.

When thinking about the fee, you may find it helpful to consider the following:

1. Psychotherapy is a serious investment in yourself, in your work life, personal relationships, and ongoing sense of well being.
2. In general it is to be expected that a more senior, experienced therapist is less likely to be in network or offer a low fee.

During our initial consultation, I will talk with you about your financial considerations and priorities, and what your insurance may cover. In most cases, I find we are able to work together to find a fee that is manageable for you, fair to me, and competitive in the NYC market.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Talking honestly to a therapist you trust about things you are ashamed of or hate in yourself leads to self acceptance, a greater ability to take responsibility and so feel empowered, and a deeper capacity for good relationships.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

I value psychotherapy as a form of conversation that helps us find new things about ourselves that we didn't know we could value.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I get to have intimate conversations with people for whom I come to care about a lot, from whom I learn more about myself, and with whom I often get to share a good laugh.

What I value the most though, comes by way of a story.

Many years ago, while attending the wedding of a former client, her mother introduced herself to me. She wanted to thank me for the help I'd provided her daughter, but also to let me know that the changes her daughter had made had affected the larger family. In fact, she said, she was sure that those changes would make a difference into the next generation, for her still to be born grandchildren and their children. It doesn't get any better than that.
