My Approach to Helping
I have over 25 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I enjoy helping couples and families to navigate the complex dynamics of their relationships. My approach to therapy is to meet people where they are, partnering together to achieve their desired goals. I use a combination of play therapy and skill-building for children age 4 through 11 years old. The developed skills might include being able to navigate big feelings, adjust to parents' divorce, or improving relationships with siblings and peers. In sessions for parents, we might discuss their child's individual needs and develop healthy parenting strategies. For preteens and adolescents, I integrate a combination of cognitive behavioral and insight-oriented therapies that focus on identity development, value clarification, emotional regulation, and negotiating needs and wants effectively. My work with couples focuses on developing skills to increase secure function, improve communication, or adjust to transitions and life changes. Above all, I prioritize helping people start wherever they are to achieve their goals. I am committed to the growth and development of my own expertise which includes ongoing training and education in neuroscience, attachment, human development, and relational work.
