My Approach to Helping
Hi! I'm Kelly. If you are struggling to answer life's biggest questions and cope with life's heaviest burdens, we can figure it out together. I have experience working with clients of all ages and backgrounds, and I prioritize building safe and strong relationships with all of my clients. I like working with a diverse range of presenting issues, from depression and anxiety to grief and trauma. I love working with the LGBTQIA+ community, and specialize in working with religious trauma and spiritual abuse. I am also incredibly passionate about grief counseling and end-of-life support and have experience working in palliative care and hospice.
Through connecting with me, and connecting with yourself on a deeper level, we can begin creating change in your life. We can create new thought patterns and habits, new senses of identity and purpose, and even create art, music, and poetry! It would be my honor to walk alongside you through this chapter of life, wherever you may be.
More Info About My Practice
If relevant, I focus on meaning-making, tackling existential dread, and re-authoring life’s narratives in therapy. I frequently use mindfulness and somatic experiencing to build self-awareness and self-compassion. I love using expressive arts to help process experiences that escape words. I always work from a trauma-informed and strengths-based foundation.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
In therapy, we will be building a strong, collaborative, trusting relationship. I love this work so much because of the wonderful relationships I form with clients. Together, we can gain insight into why you are feeling the way that you are. Instead of masking symptoms, we can get to the root of the issue at hand. Although it can be difficult and scary to confront our deepest pain and fear, the relief and peace you can feel at the end of the tunnel is worth it!
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
Research shows that 90% of therapeutic change occurs because of the quality of the therapeutic relationship, not because of specific modalities or techniques I might use. I want to make sure that you find a therapist you really connect with. This is why I offer a free, 30-minute consultation for us to get to know each other better and ensure that we are a good fit. I hope to talk with you soon!
