My practice consists of working with adults, adolescents and couples who are facing challenges and/or difficulties in their current life.
For the past 20 years, I have helped people with personal and professional challenges, which often come to light during times of stress or transition. These challenges come in many forms including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, trauma and relationship difficulties. These symptoms are often triggered by life transitions, which can include relocating, becoming a parent, bereavement, changing jobs, getting married or divorced, deteriorating health or many other life events that impact people in a variety of ways.

How Psychotherapy Can Help
Everyone experiences periods of anxiety, disappointment, stress or sadness from time to time. Whether provoked by challenges at work, a life transition or difficulty in a relationship, finding a therapist who can effectively help you to overcome life's normal challenges can be a difficult and confusing process. Fit is very important. There are many different types of mental health professionals, a wide range of therapeutic approaches and widely divergent levels of professional training. A first step to feeling better is finding a therapist who understands your situation and who is sufficiently trained and skilled to provide effective treatment.
In helping clients I use a results-oriented approach and employ over 20 years of intensive experience and training that I have had in both psychotherapy and psychoanalysis in the U.S. and the United Kingdom. Through my training and the wide variety of therapeutic settings and patient specialties I have built the expertise to assess your situation and determine with you how to most effectively intervene.
I am a graduate of an IPA psychoanalytic institute and have extensive training which includes providing psychotherapy treatment at the Tavistock Clinic in London, which is an internationally recognized leader in pioneering mental health treatments. I am currently on the board and faculty at the American Institute for Psychoanalysis in New York where I teach and supervise psychotherapists who are training to be psychoanalysts.
My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
The purpose of psychotherapy is to help you to live a fuller life, where you are not burdened by problems and overwhelming symptoms that get in the way of you living in the way you would like. It is about obtaining inner freedom. My philosophy is to provide the highest quality treatment, with a compassionate approach, that is focused on the goal of lasting change. My aim is to help you feel better so that you can live your life to the fullest.
