My Approach to Helping
Due to my own struggles with anxiety and depression from early childhood, I have made it my mission to help those dealing with anxiety disorders, panic disorders, and depression. Through a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, Solution Focused (Brief) Therapy (SFBT) and strength-based approaches, I focus on helping my clients develop individual coping skills that will help them relieve anxiety and worrisome. I have over 6 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults equipping them with the tools that they need to live a happy, healthy and fulfilling life.
I am truly dedicated to providing an empathic and nonjudgmental environment where your concerns are heard and solutions are explored. Anxiety and depression is the most prominent mental health issue and I want you to know that "You Are Not Alone" (YANA).
Services can be provided via Chat or Video.
More Info About My Practice
I received my Master's degree in Social Work from Fordham University in 2012. Since then, I have worked with adults, adolescents, and children, specializing in depression, anxiety disorders, and life coaching.
Dealing with Generalized Anxiety Disorder(GAD) from an early age, I became obsessed with spreading awareness & educating about the hardships of living with a mental health issue.
In need of a support system, I started the Facebook group GroupTherapy BY yana as a social movement to provide women with a positive outlet to anonymously ask questions, with a vision of creating a virtual support system and reducing the stigma of mental health issues.
Today, Group Therapy BY yana has grown to 12,000 female members with over 2,000 anonymous concerns.
In 2017, my personal blogs titled "11 Simple Strategies I Use to Help Ease My Anxiety" and "Some Do and Don'ts for Living With Anxiety" were published on "The Mighty" and "Thought Catalog" popular mental health blog sites.
Through my private practice, Byyana Psychotherapy, I offer intimate services for women, men, adolescents and children, focusing on depression, anxiety disorders while helping them move forward by setting personal and professional goals that will lead to the life they desire.
My definition of happiness is staying in the moment and contributing to the world.
