My Approach to Helping
As a mind-body oriented therapist, I believe that our thoughts, emotions, nervous system, and physical body are interconnected. I combine theories of talk therapy while emphasizing the need to feel, re-process, and experience new emotions. I value collaboration and will use a strength-based, person-centered approach in our work together. My role as a therapist is to foster a safe space and guide the healing process because I view you as the expert on your life. The interventions I use depend on you, where you are at and what you are bringing into sessions. I use integrated techinques and draw primarily from Internal-Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Cognitive behaviral therapy and mindfulness skills. I am also a trained Brainspotting Practitioner. Brainspotting is designed to help people access, process, and overcome trauma, negative emotions, and pain. I work with individuals, couples, and families and view healthy human connections as a driving force in our lives.
More Info About My Practice
I have worked the past 5 years as an individual and family therapist in Brooklyn. I've worked with clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, conflict and overall dissatisfaction within relationships. My main goal is to help individuals, families and couples make meaning of their interactions while re-experiencing new emotions and pattens.
I use Brainspotting with clients who have a history of trauma or clients who stuggle with depression and anxiety. Brainspotting is designed to help people access, process, and overcome trauma, negative emotions, and pain. Similar to EMDR, Brainspotting is based on the idea that pain is stored in the body and talking about it is not enough to release it.
As a cis-gendered white female, I acknowledge the privilege I carry and how that informs the work I do. I invite conversations of race, sexuality, and power into our space. My main focus is to create an environment that feels safe.
The Duration and Frequency of Therapy
The amount of sessions and frequency depends on what you are looking for. I have experience working with both short-term solution focused clients and long term healing. My goal as a therapist is to utilize our time together and equip you with a sense of wholeness and skills that can be sustained after our work ends.
I also offer one time support sessions (60-90mins), these sessions are ideal for clients who are seeking guidance, advice or a space to talk. One time support sessions are similar to coaching, with less emphasis on building intimate rapport ($60 for 1 hour, $85 for 90 mins)
