My Approach to Helping

Have you wondered if your child or adolescent would benefit from therapy? I offer a complimentary consultation to discuss any questions you may have. You can talk to me about anything; nothing you say will surprise me. I can help your child work through difficulties and become their own therapist by learning how to deal with challenges. I work well with parents, children, and adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, self- esteem, social and body image issues. I am easy to talk to, compassionate, and real. Clients often see a reduction in symptoms and improvement early on in therapy.

I received my graduate degree from NYU and am a PHD candidate at City University of New York. I am a licensed clinical social worker with over a decade of experience. I worked in a variety of settings including NYU Medical Center and Schools providing therapy and social skills groups. In addition to working with children and parents at Zackson Psychology Group, I continue to practice at NYU Langone Medical Center and continue to supervise clinicians in training. Working within the school system, I created innovative programming, created social skills groups, fostered relationships between families and school and facilitated treatment programs for students. I have extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Child-Parent Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT and Mindfulness based therapies.

I use a bio-psychosocial approach in my practice. I consider the biological, psychological and social factors that influence my clients. My work is informed by evidence based treatments and emotional focused therapy. My mission is to provide the highest quality of care and positive outcome for each child and their family. My clients often experience reduction of symptoms and improved quality of life early on in treatment.

I provide evidence-based therapy for children, adolescents, college age and parenting support. I also provides school consultative services. I collaborate with schools and multi-disciplinary teams to identify and implement effective strategies to facilitate treatment for students.

Zackson Psychology Group serves high functioning clients of all ages from children, adolescents, adults, parents to executives. Most services are reimbursed by insurance companies. Our approach is solution focused toward clear goals. Our clients have challenging schedules, therefore, in addition to business hours, we also offer evening and weekend appointments

For many, making the decision to see a therapist is difficult. My goal is to make this process as comfortable as I can. My practice is modeled in the style of an 'old-time' family practitioner. When you call, you will speak with Dr. Judith Zackson personally. Starting with your first conversation, we will get to know you and begin to understand how we can help you achieve your goals. We will ultimately help you to become your own therapist by learning how to better deal with the challenges that come up in your life.
