On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

Of course you have questions and concerns, you have the courage to take the step to change and where to start? Trust, confidentiality, finances, "telling your story",past attempts at therapy, limited success and now what? These are all real concerns and questions you can share in a phone call before deciding if now is the time and we are a good fit. Start simple; what is the primary issue? Not the universe of communication, but more specific, "I can't focus at work"; "I am angry with my family"; "My children will not listen"; "My partner talks at me, not to me", " I am so disappointed in....." You may find deeper emotion around statements such as these, but the best place to start is not with the universe, but with "what is the toughest thing today". Any therapy commitment should have you leaving the office on the first visit with more clarity, confidence, feeling lighter, possibly energized. Most of all, feel the genuine connection of the therapist and don't be afraid to ask" What can I expect?" "How do we get where I want to be?" Best of luck, you are worth it!
