My Approach to Helping
I am always amazed by the people who show up in my office! It takes so much courage just to make that first appointment. You may not be feeling particularly courageous or strong the first time you walk in. However, I see someone who is willing to come to discuss potentially painful topics as being courageous and strong.
Therefore, the most important thing to me is to create an environment of safety and acceptance where we can partner and work together in a compassionate manner to reach your goals in how you feel and act.
I usually work on three levels:
1) Addressing the surface - behavioral level and looking at what behaviors and patterns are causing you to not feel good about yourself.
2) Looking at a deeper level - addressing the root of the problem.
3) Experiential - slowing down in each session at times to look at what is being experienced at that very moment.
