My Approach to Helping
HEAL TRAUMA + AWAKEN CREATIVITY + LIVE WELL
Have you experienced a trauma or chronic medical illness? Are you adjusting to changes in your career, relationship, or stage of life? If your current issues are resulting in feeling lost, uneasy, anxious, angry, or even hopeless, don't despair - help is available, and healing is possible! Regardless of how confusing your difficulties may seem today, following these issues to their roots leads the way to new understandings, profound connections, and transformation. The primary goal of therapy with me is always healing - getting some relief and building on this to become your best self. My desire is to balance heart and humor in a professional style that is collaborative, direct, down to earth, and non-judgmental.
If you are ready to explore yourself and take your well-being to the next level, I hope that you will take the next step to contact me to learn if we would be a good match. I look forward to hearing from you!
More Info About My Practice
Since being in private practice since 2005 I've taken an approach to therapy that integrates what I believe is the best of systemic (Internal Family Systems & Integral Psychotherapy) and experiential (Art Therapy & Mindfulness) approaches. We will use these models to help change old patterns and limiting beliefs. Powerful inner resources like courage, confidence, and clarity are revealed and can be of benefit long after therapy is complete.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I specialize in working with adults and teens dealing with effects of psychic pain, trauma, and abuse. This includes behaviors like eating disorders and addictions. I also work with people seeking support during life transitions such as changes to career, relationships, or health. I lead a therapy group for women in treatment for chronic Lyme Disease and offer individual therapy for the same.
An additional specialization I offer is Art Therapy. Art Therapy is an especially good match for teens because it offers an enjoyable way to get perspective and make shifts without the need for so many words.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
One of my favorite quotes by the poet Rumi reads, "When setting out on a journey, do not seek advice from those who have never left home." Therapy came into my life at a time that I needed it most and helped me change the entire direction of my life. I appreciate the courage that therapy takes and know firsthand the rewards on the other side. I truly love my work, people, and their stories.
