My Approach to Helping
I am primarily a group psychotherapist who specializes in treating addictions and compulsive behaviors. Groups are a wonderful antidote to these isolating behavioral patterns, as they help to break the shame and isolation that often accompanies addiction. While interpersonally oriented process groups are the primary modality I use, I am also training in adventure therapy, and I offer action-oriented games and challenges to my groups. These activities are designed to augment and strengthen one's resolve to continue in recovery. They also engage the whole body in therapy, thereby putting therapeutic concepts into physical action.

More Info About My Practice
My fee for individual therapy is $125.00 per session, and my fee gor group therapy is $200.00 per month. I am a preferred provider with Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Medicare.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I hold a special certification in treating pathological gambling. I am likewise very comfortable working with people recovering from other behavioral addictions such as internet pornography, sex, shopping, and computer gaming.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

I believe that psychotherapy offers people support for addressing personal goals and/or problems. As clients access and avail themselves of both my support and that of their fellow group members, their resolve is bolstered and the shame is reduced. The changes I assist people in making area more easily achieved with the support of others.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I enjoy seeing people evolve and reach their personal goals. I also am passionate about employing fun, action oriented therapies, such as outdoor adventure therapy and team-building.

Theoretical Influences that Guide My Work

I combine a range of theoretical approaches in my work, though I am largely influenced by the work of Michael Gass (adventure therapy), Irvin Yalom (group therapy), and Albert Ellis (Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy).
