What's My Approach to Therapy?
I think counseling should be collaborative where we both use our experiences and knowledge to problem solve your issues that are bothering you.
I am here to empower you, help you realize your potential and achieve your goals using empathy, practicality, confidence, humor, relatability, real life experiences, energy, and honesty. I have worked with people from all walks of life, so as long as you breath air, we are good to go. If there is something I don't know I will work to learn it. If there is something you need, I will try to accommodate you (like helping with looking for jobs or making more jokes). I am comfortable and competent with addressing a wide array of issues. When working with me goals are made as a partnership; where you pick what you want to work on, and I help you achieve it.
During the first session, I will work to build your trust and earn your respect. I will listen and work to understand your problems and how they are impacting you. I will give you my perspective on what ive heard, and we can do a little processing. I will provide some tools you can use to start addressing your problems. Sadly there will be some paperwork that needs to be done. After this I will ask if you feel we are a good fit and if you want to continue working with me.
