What's My Approach to Therapy?
Dr. Potaczek is a native Chicagoan. He came to psychology after a previous executive management career, and then completed his PsyD (doctor of psychology) at Adler University in Chicago. His perspective and experience reach out to supporting the needs of individuals undergoing various concerns, stressors, and transitions.
Working from a positive psychology framework, Dr. Potaczek engages clients in a friendly and conversational manner in developing strategies and better insight into sources of anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive condition (OCD), uncontrollable worry, overwork, and attention-deficit hyperactivity (ADHD) concerns.
Dr. Potaczek also focuses on the needs of young and emerging adults establishing professional identity and establishing work and career focus. Dr. Potaczek also focuses on concerns clients have with dating, relationships, and attachment, and/or anxiety concerns connected to establishing loving relationships and engagement with others.
Dr. Potaczek also provides treatment for early-career professional stress, depression, and anxiety. He also specializes in the concerns of graduate students, law and medical students, and medical residents, balancing the rigors of training with self-care, family, and relationships. Dr. Potaczek also works with individuals in medicine, the medical professions, law, finance, and tech in addressing the stressors of these professions.
During the initial meeting and evaluation, Dr. Potaczek will work collaboratively with you to identify your primary concerns and problems you are experiencing. Dr. Potaczek will also explore your personal strengths. His approach is practical and solution oriented in working with his clients to understand any negative patterns that may be inhibiting individual growth, and he works with his clients toward the reduction of stress and emotional pain. Increasing your self-awareness and helping discover ways to change patterns leads to healing and a more fulfilling life.
