My Approach to Helping

I'm the creator of the Loving at Your Best Plan, an integrative approach unlike any other marriage and couples counseling or therapy. I use the latest techniques available in marriage and couples therapy for an effective approach that will give you the tools you need to work through even the most challenging conflicts in your relationship.
I also do individual and group therapy using the Life at Your Best Plan, using a structure with a roadmap to help you achieve your goals for a satisfying life and rewarding career.

More Info About My Practice

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I am the director and creator of The Loving at Your Best 5-Step Plan. I am a Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist and Supervisor, a Certified Schema Therapist, Supervisor and Trainer, a Certified Gottman Method Couples Therapist, and a Certified Group Psychotherapist. I am also Founding Member of the New York Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy.
I have trained couples therapists nationally and internationally for many years, including recent trainings in Italy, South Korea, the Netherlands, and the New England Educational Institute in Cape Cod. I am a supervisor and trainer at the Schema Therapy Institute, and also co-authored the latest schema mode therapy inventory, the SMI. I recently authored and published ?Schema Therapy for Couples: Healing Partners in a Relationship? in the Handbook of Schema Therapy (2012). I co-presented in Cape Cod with Jeffrey Young, Ph.D., the founder of schema therapy for three years, training other couples therapists, and recently completed a video to help couples therapists with Sue Johnson, Ph.D., founder of Emotionally Focused Therapy. I graduated from New York University, with graduate degrees in Clinical Social Work and Management.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

Another recent review from an independently verified client (name withheld for confidentiality) states:
"Quite Amazing."
"Travis is a remarkable therapist. He is highly attuned and skillful in the fine art of purposeful relationship therapy deftly integrating aspects of attachment theory and affect regulation. He sees what few can."

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

A recent review from an independently verified client (name without for confidentiality) exclaims: "Life Changing" I say this without exaggeration - Travis changed my life. I was one of those people who distrusted how much effect therapy could really have. Yet, I was at a place in my life where something had to change so I reached out to him. His combination of schema therapy, cognitive therapy, and scientific research altered my entire way of looking at the world. I now have a life and career that I love and was always meant to have."
