My Approach to Helping

I believe that when struggling with concerns and issues like lack of finances, anxiety, depression, traumatic events, and strained relationships, the individual needs to have a supportive ear and a nonjudgmental point of view to process and explain their feelings. Being heard is an essential key in the therapeutic process. The therapeutic process is about improving on your strengths and strengthening your weakness. My goal is to make your life your reality by working with you to help improve your life.

Determining your barriers and explaining your feelings can be very difficult and exhausting. I am interested in hearing your story and working with you to identify the roadblock in your journey. Once we understand your problem, we can work together to find solutions to your situation.

I hope that as we work together, I can be a person with whom you feel comfortable sharing your feelings and displaying a safe working place to achieve your goals. If this sounds like I can help you in your time of need, don't hesitate to contact me so we can get started on this journey together.

My approach to the practice of psychotherapy integrates cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and narrative-based approaches in the service of healing change. I have helped many clients work through difficult life transitions, relationship conflicts, and grief caused by various losses. In all my work, I bring a deep life experience infused with compassion, acceptance, intelligence, and gentle humor.
The work I do with my clients is sometimes difficult and painful, but time and again I have seen how the benefits of the work outweigh the risks. I am always ready to encourage and join my clients in making a leap of faith from sickness into health.

I have worked with a variety of individuals which include depression, anxiety, bipolar, addiction, substance abuse, and communication challenges. All these individuals have one thing in common is that they want to be heard and to have a safe place to speak their truth. I find that it is an honor to be able to listen to and collaborate with clients on their sensitive issues. I want to be a positive influence and empower client that the issues faced does not determine their present or future. Working on your concerns in therapy is proactive and shows that the individual wants to change but needs some help in determining what is needed to overcome the issue.

Meeting with clients and talking about their issues can be very challenging for the individual. Sometimes, individuals need time to process what is needed to make the best decisions for themselves. This is where I will be a supportive ear and provide a safe environment with no judgment.

More Info About My Practice

While pursuing my internship hours for my graduate program, I decided to join LIRA -Long Island Recovery Association, a recovery-based organization. I became involved with this organization because they would advocate for those suffering from substance abuse. Every year they would go up to Albany and talk to the senator and their aids to convey the needs and stigma of those suffering from substance abuse. I attended two years in a row and became involved with this organization.

By being involved with this organization, I became more aware of the stigma that those suffering from substance entail and how hard it can be to get support. Those years influenced me and enlightened a deep empathy for those suffering from substance abuse. As I gained experience in mental health, this particular population is also stigmatized. I gained experience in community residences and supportive housing as an assistant manager.
