My Approach to Helping
I am a clinical social worker practicing psychotherapy in New York City since 2011. In these uncertain times, I provide treatment via a HIPAA-compliant video therapy platform where you can join me for a session from the comfort and safety of your home. My approach is steeped in psychodynamic tradition. In my clinical work, I address a variety of issues, including the ones related to identity and self-esteem, coping with major life transitions, processing significant trauma, and maladaptive relationship patterns. Quite often, people are unaware of the long-standing unhelpful patterns in their views of the world, their perceptions of themselves, and their ways of relating to others. Out of conscious awareness, these patterns prevent them from achieving their full potential and living happy, fulfilling lives. It is my job to help you gain awareness of these unhelpful patterns, and, through the medium of a therapeutic relationship that is rooted in empathy, respect, and genuine interest, to work together to bring about change. I also incorporate elements of a more pragmatic cognitive approach into my work, which helps you to gain a greater awareness of the connections between thoughts, feelings, and actions. While I enjoy working with patients from all walks of life, I have also been focusing my clinical work on treating creative professionals and addressing the special challenges they face.
