My Approach to Helping
As a psychologist, I believe that the therapeutic relationship is essential in bringing about change and personal growth. By providing a warm, collaborative and safe space, we will be able to work through different obstacles, conflicts, and dilemmas that are preventing you from being your most authentic self. I also understand the importance of tackling your current distress first and foremost. I value the uniqueness of you and believe that having a flexible approach is key to making change.
We will work through current stressors and difficulties by utilizing different techniques and problem-solving skills. Importantly, we will build a better understanding of how thoughts influence feelings and behaviors and how that impacts your day-to-day life.
I also find value in understanding the root cause and helping people understand their own personality dynamics and how the past informs the present but does not have to dictate the future. It is my belief that by making meaning out of our past and current experiences, we are better able to bring about change in the here and now.
