My Approach to Helping
Welcome. I am a psychologist serving the Financial District and lower Manhattan. My approach to therapy includes using mindful self-compassion instead of perfectionism or self-critical strategies that many individuals use for motivation. These strategies may work to an extent, but leave us more vulnerable to anxiety and low mood. My approach to treatment is collaborative and compassionate to help further understand and address the concerns that led you to this site, likely in search of some relief from the way you are currently feeling. All of us employ coping strategies, but when stressors begin to overwhelm these strategies, it is often time to seek some professional assistance.
Together, we will work to outline a plan to reduce current distress and facilitate growth. Once you are feeling some relief from the immediate concerns that brought you to therapy, it may be helpful to continue to explore and further understand relationship patterns that may not be working as well as you'd like.
In addition to my practice, I have worked as a supervising psychologist and an adjunct faculty member at Fordham University teaching graduate students. I have worked extensively with individuals navigating the complexities of career, identity, and relationship concerns.
