My Approach to Helping
My work is a vocation, not a job. I love being a therapist because it allows me to connect with diverse people in a deep, meaningful way and to have the privilege of trying to help them on their unique journeys. I'm a diplomate in sex therapy as well as a licensed psychologist, and I am trained in EMDR, hypnotherapy, and two methods of couples counseling as well. I pride myself on keeping up with the most current developments in my field because I owe it to the people I'm trying to help.
My therapeutic style is supportive, active and direct. I work with the general public - individuals and couples with a wide range of issues, with sub-specialties in sexual dysfunction, trauma and with the LGBT population.
Many clients return to me over decades, bringing friends and family. Within the limits of the therapist-client relationship, I get genuinely attached to my clients, sharing in their pain and rejoicing in their successes...caring deeply. And I'm old enough to be a little bit....well...wiser.
More Info About My Practice
I am winding down my practice but I am still accepting new clients who fall within my areas of specialization: sex therapy, LGBTQ+ concerns, transnon-binary youth, ethical nonmonogamy, BDSM. I can see clients via Zoom (mostly) or in person (sometimes) who are ok with my parameters, e.g., besides your problem being in my wheelhouse - I only work Monday- Friday 9-5, no weekends or evenings; and I am not in network with insurance providers, you will need to pay me at the time of service and I can provide a superbill you can submit to insurance if you have out of network benefits. SO - if this works for you, email me and we will set up a short phoneZoom call (free to you) to make sure we 'click.'
