My Approach to Helping

I know that you have been having a tough time lately and it may seem like things will never get better for you. I understand and will work with you to identify the source of your concerns and develop practical ways of dealing with these challenges. I incorporate humor, pop culture, and mindfulness practices into our sessions to help you to find and use effective, research-based ways of reducing depression and anxiety. Together we will create a plan to support you in feeling better and meeting your goals one step at a time in a safe space where you can be yourself, free of judgment.

You can expect to be treated with respect, without judgment when we meet. I specialize in working with adults dealing with depression and anxiety incorporating proven strategies to support you in practicing and using coping skills to reduce your symptoms and feel better. At your initial visit, the focus will be on understanding your concerns and working together to develop realistic goals and a plan to accomplish them. Your counseling session is time dedicated to you, which may be at times structured or conversational depending on your personality, goals, and preferences.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

It has been such a wonderful journey working with my clients over the years! Being a therapist is tough work- and we don't always get to witness client growth and so I am often hopeful that the seeds of change planted in session will take root in the future. Working with my clients reminds me of the amazing resilience of the human spirit day after day and I continue because of this. Session after session, they come back, and as they begin to see the positive impact of therapy, I am their cheerleader. I am deeply humbled through the work and often marvel at how incredibly brave my clients are in facing fears, accepting hard truths, and in deciding to prioritize their health and well-being.
