My Approach to Helping

Everybody's story is unique, and every person deserves an individualized and culturally informed approach to their problems. Are you feeling anxious, burned out, or do you find yourself zoning out? Do you struggle with relationship issues, codependency, or feel addicted to a person? Are you experiencing stress related to aging, illness, or the loss of a loved one? Are you a parent experiencing stress in your relationship with your adolescent or adult child? I'm a licensed clinical social worker and a psychotherapist, and my practice focusses primarily on supporting adolescents, young adults, parents, and seniors. As a first step of our journey together, we will work closely to determine what you are hoping to get out of therapy, and how we can best collaborate to help you reach your goals and find solutions to whatever stressors you may be experiencing.

Psychotherapy is a proven path to emotional well being. For your benefit, I use a an eclectic approach that allows us to tailor our work in a way that most benefits you. Modalities I use include rational-emotive behavioral therapy (understanding the connections between our thoughts, our emotions, and how we behave); positive psychology; body-oriented psychotherapy to explore the healing power in the mind-body connection; and trauma-informed therapy. I have extensive experience working with adolescents, parents and grandparents, and with adults with medical illness, loss and bereavement, and issues related to aging. I have also helped many people explore the role that their religious faith andor spirituality, including secular humanistic beliefs, plays in their life. I believe in the power of emotional support and education, and strive to be culturally informed and sensitive to clients of all ethnicities, sexual and gender identities.

The therapeutic relationship we develop is the cornerstone of your wellness journey. I will provide a caring, nonjudgmental setting where you feel safe and respected and are invited to share. I look forward to working together as partners in your healing journey as we progress on the path to your greater happiness and fulfillment.
