I am a New York State licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist. Originally from Ireland, I received my BA in Psychology from University College Dublin and my Masters and Ph.D. from Columbia University School of Social Work. I have also received training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) at the Beck Institute.

In my clinical practice, I work primarily with adults who present with a range of emotional, behavioral and adjustment problems that often stem from anxiety, depression, stress and conflict. My approach to therapy is interactive, conversational and collaborative. I believe that warmth, respect and a sense of humor all contribute to a strong therapeutic relationship.

My goal is to help relieve immediate distress, increase personal understanding and growth, and work towards the development of coping skills that can be used long after therapy has ended.

More Info About My Practice

Finding someone you feel can listen, understand and support you through this time in your life is probably the most important choice you can make when entering therapy. The first appointment is typically an evaluation session. A time for me to gather information about what brings you to treatment, the symptoms you are experiencing, and to hear more about your life and history. It is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and assess your comfort in our working together.

At our second appointment, we will begin the therapy process and together develop goals for treatment. Depending on the issues you face, our work together could range from anywhere from 12 - 24 sessions.
