Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I work with people of all ages who struggle with overwhelming or difficult emotions. Many people have difficulty managing big or high intensity emotions in a healthy way and often end up engaging in a self defeating behavior to gain relief. I combine a compassionate, understanding environment with real skills and techniques to help alleviate and manage extreme distress. I also work with parents to help their children learn these skills.

I utilize EMDR- which is a form of therapy used for PTSD and trauma that many of my clients have reported to be effective.

When working with children I frequently utilize sand tray therapy, art therapy and play therapy to help children who don't want to, or don't know how to, talk about their struggles.

My Role as a Therapist

I believe that I have found my calling as a psychologist. I love connecting with and helping to empower people to make the changes they desire in their lives.

I feel that my role as a therapist is to blend the art and science of therapy in a way that is individualized to be most helpful for each person. This means that I work to understand the latest techniques for alleviating problems and I am able to distill this information in a supportive, safe and judgment-free area.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

If you've had a negative therapy experience, I am truly sorry. Just the fact that this is common enough to devote a section to is unfortunate. I work with many individuals who have struggled with past therapy experiences.

The biggest complaint that I hear is that people have encountered therapists who have very strong and narrow beliefs regarding what the 'underlying problem' is. I'm a big believer in you being the expert on yourself.

Again, if you've had a bad therapy experience I am truly sorry and you are not alone. If you're willing to give it another go, give me a call and we can talk about your past experiences and how this one can be different.
