My Approach to Helping

I specialize in womens' issues and am familiar with the struggles and issues of gay and lesbian individuals. I work well with adolescents who have social phobias. I have been in practice for over forty years and have worked successfully with both adolescents and adults of all religions and races. I have experience with, and am comfortable with, helping people learn how to deal with and resolve issues of anger, as well as to develop self confidence and self esteem.

I teach individuals and couples constructive means of expression and of communicating feelings without criticism or anger.

I give parents tools to positively set limits with children and adolescents to avoid conflicts and acting out, oppositional behavior.

I help adolescents and adults to manage anger, anxiety and depression through cognitive and behavioral techniques.

I have experience in working with adolescents and adults with addictions, including alcohol, drugs and eating disorders.

More Info About My Practice

I offer a free telephone consultation of forty-five (45) minutes.

I will charge an adjustable fee based on need.

I accept some insurance programs.

I offer daytime and evening appointments during the week, as well as some Saturdays.

My Guiding Ethical Principles

In my opinion the purpose of psychotherapy is to remove the symptoms the person presents when he or she requests therapy. This is done by obtaining a personal history of both the symptoms as well as of the person's family relationships to gain an understanding of the reasons for the development of the problems. This "education of the self" is the most successful approach to symptom relief and lasting mental health.

My guiding ethical principles in my work as a therapist are to remain objective and non-judgmental at all times and ensure the confidentiality of the person I am working with.
