Finding a therapist who specializes in emetophobia can be challenging. You may have spent years trying to manage your fears on your own or working with therapists who focused on general anxiety without directly addressing your fear of vomiting. I specialize in helping women with emetophobia and OCD through evidence-based treatment, particularly Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) ERP involves gradually approaching feared situations, thoughts, and sensations while learning to respond differently to anxiety and uncertainty. Depending on your individual concerns, treatment may address fears related to nausea, food, stomach viruses, travel, pregnancy, or caring for sick family members. I understand that exposure therapy can sound intimidating, especially when you have spent years doing everything possible to avoid vomiting. ERP does not require you to intentionally vomit. We work together to develop a treatment plan that considers your concerns, goals, and readiness while helping you gradually face situations that fear has made difficult. Therapy is about more than reducing anxiety. It is about being able to travel, enjoy meals, care for your family, pursue your goals, and make decisions based on what matters to you rather than what you fear. I offer in-person therapy in Jackson, Michigan, and online counseling for clients located in Michigan and North Carolina.
