My Approach to Helping
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker focused on working with adults of all ages who are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, life transitions and serious illness. I earned my Master’s in Social Work degree from Columbia University and have practiced as a psychotherapist for over five years. I also have experience working with older adults in both institutional and community settings, including hospice. I am particularly interested in issues experienced during life transitions, such as career changes, estrangements from family, caring for aging parents, and death of friends and family.
I view psychotherapy as a collaborative effort and strive to match psychotherapeutic interventions to the client. I believe clients’ needs are multi-layered and can fluctuate, even in a single session. Therefore, I employ many different modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, EMDR and Psychodynamic theory. I am willing to engage a Client in an exploration of their questions, assumptions and mental processes and am also committed to delving deep into the trenches of emotional history to identify and process painful and problematic memories. Ultimately, my goal is to join with clients on achieving desired change in whatever form that takes.
