My Approach to Helping
In therapeutic work, I focus my attention on the innate processes of the person I am working with: how their deeper, instinctual mind is "speaking" through symptoms, repeating emotional or behavioral patterns, or through difficulties either on an inner level or in coming to terms with outer life circumstances. Sometimes this expression can even seem to be a lack of expression, in the form of depression, a sense of stagnation and loss of meaning in life.
Although these expressions are initially negative and cause suffering, our work towards understanding them allows vital aspects of the personality to reemerge and integrate with the conscious sense of self, restoring balance. Together, we work with the material of your experiences to understand forces you may not be aware of which influence and limit your sense of self and relationships. Working with dreams and other imaginative processes are also ways we can access what lies outside of conscious awareness.
Therapy is a opportunity to weave your unique narrative, and become more aware of who you are, your potentials as well as limitations. The work can specifically address short-term needs, or a desire for deeper exploration and change.
