My Approach to Helping
When the worry, or the pain, or the fear of our current situation is standing in front of us like a brick wall, what if we could see beyond it? What if we could literally stand on our toes and look over it? Would seeing what lies beyond the present change how it's affecting us? When triggered by the right stressors, the genes we are born with can lead to anxiety, depression, mood swings, substance abuse, suicidal thoughts, hallucinations. And throughout life, we may experience abuse, neglect, loss, poverty, trauma and situations that make us feel “stuck.”
Most stressors require support via therapy. Some respond better to medications. Whether it's ongoing therapy, medication, or a combination of the two, I will give you the evidence-based research. YOU will decide what's best for you.
As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with a PhD in clinical psychology, I have the formal knowledge and experience, but more importantly I've lived through most of the situations listed above. I have felt what you're feeling. I will help you see over the present and into a beautiful future.
