I believe in starting where the client is, with deep empathy and validation, but also always holding for my client a vision for his/her higher potential and possibility for his/her life. The work we do together strives to enable them to see their situation in a new way where they can feel empowered and hopeful. Many individuals feel liberated when the repetitive self-defeating patterns, or blocking mindset can be altered. In some cases grieving is necessary. Changes in self, mood and behavior can occur, and new doors open for a different kind of living. Much is possible on the other side of fear. So the aim is to face the blocks, and to gain energy from the non-resistance to what is currently going on, and develop a new perspective. Being seen and heard by a warm and experienced therapist can be extremely validating, and it is a form of care and work with a power to heal that knows no bounds. The kinds of issues that I help Individuals with are work and life problems, relationship issues of all kinds, anxiety, depression, grief, Adult ADHD, divorce, separation, low self esteem, emotional or other kinds of abuse, and young adulthood issues, self-sabotaging personality patterns.

With couples, using Imago Relationship Therapy, EFT (Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy), the Gottman approach and Tatkin's Psychobiological Couples approach (PACT), I strive to help partners clear out the blocks in their relational space, move from reactivity to conscious intentionality, and find each other again, perhaps in a new way for the first time. We focus on the pattern of interaction that is causing disconnection for each partner, and help them shift to a different way. We seek to renew safety and create secure attachment bonds, where passion can be reengaged. I present Imago Weekend Workshops for Couples, which are called "Getting the Love You Want". These are being done all over the world and I am the only Certified Presenter in my region. These Workshops are transformative for couples.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I have a special interest is working with Individuals who have been unsuccessful in Love, with multiple disappointments in this area in their lives. Therapy strives to help them understand their covert patterns and barriers to love, and how these disappointments repeat. By shifting these patterns, they are more able to find and sustain a rewarding Love Relationship. Using concepts from Object Relations Theory, Imago, EFT, and also Katherine Woodward Thomas's "Calling in the One" program, I assist clients in understanding and releasing their internal barriers to love. Work aims at helping them make cognitive and behavioral shifts to usher in a new and deeply satisfying love experience, that can be nurtured and sustained. Along these lines, I am certified to offer an Imago Weekend Workshop for Individuals called "Keeping the Love You find". This Workshop is to designed to help individuals understand their problematic patterns with romantic love, and make shifts that will allow for a different outcome.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Psychotherapy helps people hear their own words, thoughts and feelings so that they may find themselves, even when they perhaps had not known that they were lost. The therapist's ability to hear and see them, validate their experience, and walk with them, "to the side and a little behind", as they find their own answers and develop new visions of what is possible for themselves, plays a vital role. Validating someone's experience, so that can hear and know themselves, is truly a form of loving care, and its power knows no bounds.
