My Approach to Helping

I specialize in helping people identify what is holding them back and how to move toward what they want in life. My focus is on creating a safe, open-minded, and welcoming environment for all clients along their path toward self-discovery. I enjoy working with people who have a curiosity about how their personal, familial, and cultural history affects their present lives. Together, we look at this closely in order to gain insight into why they do what they do so that they are able to open up to a greater sense of inner freedom and ability to live a more fulfilled life.

I will work collaboratively with you to analyze areas you would like to change, manage stress, clarify goals, and help you to modify unwanted patterns of behavior. My specialty areas are anxiety, relationship, and family issues, depression, sexuality and gender identity issues, trauma and life transitions. I especially enjoy working with the LGBTQIA community, people in \"non-traditional relationships\", parents, and young adults. In addition, I am trained in EMDR - an evidenced-based model for treating trauma.

Caring, warm, and non-judgemental, I start by truly listening to understand your concerns, and jointly, we will come up with an approach that fits your needs. I am here to support and guide you through your journey to enhance your life. We will work together to understand your life more fully so that you are better able to live the life you want to live.

More Info About My Practice

I offer in-person, video, and phone options for sessions. I am not an in-network provider for any insurance, however I do accept any insurance with out-of-network benefits. I do the billing for you so you only have to pay the co-insurance amount once your deductible is met.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I have extensive experience working with the LGBTQIA+ population, people in non-traditional relationships, as well as young adults to help them manage stress, clarify identity issues, support them through transitions, and help modify destructive patterns of behavior. Other areas of specialty include relationship issues, family issues, trauma, anxiety, and depression.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

Therapy is a way to help people figure out what they want from life and examine what is stopping them from getting there. Therapy is a way to help people analyze areas they would like to change and collaborate with the therapist to adjust unwanted behaviors or thought patterns that are holding them back. Therapy is also a safe place to get support when people are going through a hard time.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I love building supportive therapeutic relationships with people and witnessing how gaining a better insight into their lives creates change.
