My Role as a Therapist
My role as a therapist is to guide you through the therapy process- exploring life experiences, if need be, to try and understand underlying issues of the problem. My goal is to assist you in resolving issues through a collaborative process in a safe environment.
The Duration and Frequency of Therapy
During the first stages of treatment, we develop a treatment plan to address the presenting problem. Your role is crucial in specifying what you expect from therapy. The initial assessment I conduct will aid in assessing treatment needs. Therapy can be short-term or long-term. Short- term treatment is usually six to ten weeks and long-term therapy varies depending on needs and expectations. Frequency of therapy is usually weekly but can be more than once a week or can be biweekly depending on severity of functioning.
