What's My Approach to Therapy?

My specialized professional counseling services are designed to support men and women navigating the unique complexities of modern relationships, interpersonal communication, and life transitions. I serve a diverse population of individuals seeking to build healthy relationship foundations to those experiencing the profound shifts of a midlife transition. My clinical focus addresses the specific barriers men often face when communicating with women, helping clients dismantle patterns of conflict and replace them with emotional intelligence and clarity.

Specifically for men... Whether you are struggling with communicating with your partner during high-stress periods or feeling a loss of identity as you enter your 40s or 50s, my evidence-based approach provides a confidential space to develop actionable tools. By focusing on the intersection of masculinity and vulnerability, I help men foster deeper intimacy, resolve long-standing relationship friction, and navigate the "midlife" phase with renewed purpose and confidence. I am that therapist who will listen without judgment.

I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts, feelings, and topics of faith can be shared without fear of judgment. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will focus our dialogue on and customize the treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage, and I am proud of you for getting started!

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

Choosing a career in mental health is a calling rooted in the profound beauty of human resilience. While the work can be emotionally demanding, the rewards of sitting across from someone in their most vulnerable moments are unparalleled. Being a therapist is a unique privilege that has allowed me to witness the quiet, persistent strength and resilience of my clients every single day.

The top three reasons why I love playing a role in my clients' healing journey:

1. Witnessing the "Aha!" Moment
There is a specific, electric energy when a client connects lif dots never seen before. Whether it's realizing how childhood patterns influence current relationships or finally understanding the root of a long-held fear, that moment of clarity is transformative. It isn't just a mental shift; it's the beginning of freedom. Being the person who holds the flashlight while a client explores the darker corners of their story is an honor I've never taken for granted.

2. The Power of Authenticity
In a world dominated by curated social media feeds, therapy remains one of the most coveted safe spaces where people can heal their raw, unfiltered truth. I love that my "virtual office" is a place where masks are dropped and I get to see my clients as they truly are...not just messy and hurting but hopeful, and brave. This level of authentic connection is rare in modern life, and it reminds me daily that we are all far more alike in our struggles than we are different.

3. Facilitating Sustainable Change
There is nothing more gratifying than seeing a client utilize a tool we practiced in session to navigate a real-world crisis. Watching someone move from a state of being "stuck" to a state of agency and empowerment is the ultimate professional reward. Whether it's a couple learning to communicate without contempt or an individual finding the courage to set a boundary, knowing that I played a small part in their journey toward a healthier life provides a deep sense of purpose.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

Sometimes therapists are viewed as individuals who sit across from clients, appearing to have answers to all of life's problems; however, that's quite the contrary. Many therapists become therapists after overcoming his or her own life's stumbling blocks and have a profound desire to help others heal their journeys in a professional capacity.

I have experienced many of life's challenges that help me connect with my clients from a place of experience, wisdom, combined with professional experience. From teen pregnancy, single parenting, to marriage and divorce. From grief and loss, to chemical depressionanxiety, major and midlife transitions, to now living my best life. These life experiences have shaped how I see and value others and my ability to connect with empathy.

I love sharing in the joys and triumphs of my clients, but I am also able to walk with them in the lowest points of life. I'm not just a professional; I am a real person with real-life experiences and ready to help you overcome!
