My Approach to Helping
Along with sound clinical expertise, I work from an attachment and neuroscience perspective, providing a safe, warm, connected, nonjudgemental approach to therapy. Together we identify distressing issues, and establish objectives for growth and change. I realize some of you seek counseling because you feel stuck in unproductive thoughts, distressing emotions, or behavioral and relational patterns that negatively impact your potential be your best self and thrive. Others of you come because you experience anxiety, or a sense of languishing, boundary and relationship challenges. I also work with couples experiencing communication problems, escalating conflict, or issues that undermine a secure and loving relationship. Parents come because they struggle with their own reactivity to their kids, and are dissatisfied with the outcome of their current parenting approach.
I realize and respect that each person or couple has unique needs and challenges. I am trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities, current with the most recent findings in neuroscience (EFT, AEDP). I also apply Gottman, CBT, and relationship skills as necessary.
I see many people from various faith backgrounds, and others not ascribing to any particular spiritual orientation. I am also able to offer Christian counseling for those desiring to integrate a faith-based perspective. However I will omit faith integration for those not desiring such an approach.
