Therapy is about change that takes some time. It is a voluntary and collaborative process that happens in the context of an emotionally safe relationship. As a counselor, I am committed to paying careful attention to earning your trust while providing clinical wisdom and expertise based on my education, study, and training. My approach can be described as resilience-based, attachment-based, and narrative. These approaches involve discovering and telling your own story, drawing on strengths and abilities, improving the ability to respond to stressors, and building healthy relationships.

More Info About My Practice

For adults desiring individual counseling, our specific approach to counseling will depend on your needs, personality, and background. In addition to resilience-based therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Attachment-focused therapy, our work may involve strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness techniques, and Creative therapies. All of this means that we will indeed talk together, and we may incorporate some other ideas, exercises, and strategies too!

I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and parents. I value collaboration and support of parents and family systems. With young children, we will engage in play therapy. With older children and teenagers, the approaches will vary and may include Cognitive Behavioral, narrative, and creative techniques. With all ages, we consider the importance of trauma-information, healthy attachments, and current research on brain development.
I offer specialized work with adoptive families involving dealing with past-traumas and building healthy attachments

For adults, children, and adolescents, I am able to incorporate animal assisted therapy, and I am a certified HeartMath Practitioner for Biofeedback to help with emotion regulation skills.
