My Approach to Helping
I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of New York with over 15 years of experience in the mental health field. I hold a full SIFI certification from NYU and completed my graduate degree at Hunter College School of Social Work, 1 of 50 to earn a full merit scholarship in my class. During my studies I completed additional coursework on trauma-focused treatment and behavioral management skills for parents. Previously, I held a clinical counseling license in the state of Ohio where my training emphasized the treatment of children and adolescents through therapeutic art. I also completed a graduate degree in Clinical Counseling Education at The Ohio State University prior to entering the social work field.
My approach to therapy is through evidence-based modalities, allowing research outcomes to frame treatment with effectiveness and efficacy. I specialize in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), both with and without a trauma-focus (TF-CBT). This modality is fueled by the inter-connected relationships between one's mind, body, and behavior with treatment of Anxiety disorders, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and depression.
I also specialize in behavioral management, using positive reinforcement to develop more desirable behaviors, both in one's personal and professional life. Behavioral management has often demonstrated increased organization and structure needed to live successfully with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) as well as reduce problematic Behaviors present in both the home and school.
