My Approach to Helping
Being a woman from a multicultural background, I understand the complexities of navigating multiple identities including race, culture, religion, gender, sexual preference, class, and ability. With a unique blend of Caribbean and Middle Eastern heritage, my approach to counseling is enriched by the diverse tapestry of experiences that shape individuals. Together we will delve into how your unique intersectionality shapes your world. I view therapy as a collaborative process fostering the opportunity to build a deeper understanding of yourself, your life, and how best to navigate your new horizons. My goal is to provide a safe, genuine, and non-judgmental space for your personal growth and healing.
I received a B.S. in Psychology at Northeastern University and M.A. in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness at New York University, where I further honed my skills through rigorous training in various therapeutic modalities. I have experience working with individuals from different backgrounds, ages, and diagnoses experiencing issues around trauma, race, gender, sexuality, body image, depression, anxiety, ADHD, relationships, and more. I tailor my approach to suit the unique needs of each client. By integrating techniques such as trauma-informed therapy, CBT, psychodynamic therapy, and relational therapy, I aim to empower clients in their journey toward self-discovery and resilience. By extensively exploring patterns, feelings, and history, we will work together to design strategies to improve daily functioning and quality of life.
