My Approach to Helping

My first therapist, when I was a teenager, was an ex-priest. I don''t know why he left the priesthood but I am grateful that he did. To this day, I wonder where I would be in life if I had not met him when I did. He may have saved my life, I can''t know for certain. What I do know is that my experience with him was so positive that it changed my life trajectory.

Over the many years since then I have had many therapists. Some I fired because they weren''t a good fit for me. Others I kept for years. All were different from one another. The common thread of those therapists I kept is simple; I felt they liked me, they could see me for who I was, and I felt they truly cared about me.

What I have gained from my own therapy is what I offer to you, that is, an openness to learn about you and authentic caring about you and what matters to you. My mission is to provide you with the attention and care you need to make your life what you want it to be. I''m here to meet you as you are, to help you in the ways you want to be helped---and do that with respect, compassion, and kindness.

So, whether you are looking for your first therapist, or your 50th, I am here to work with you.

More Info About My Practice

For thirty years I have worked with a wide range of people and have enjoyed it immensely. I offer one hour or one and one-half hour sessions. I do not file insurance, however, I can supply you with a receipt which is accepted by all insurance companies.

I offer a 30 minute consultation, free of charge, for those who want to explore what it might feel like to work with me. It gives both of us an opportunity to check whether we might be a good fit.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I''ve taken a greater interest in the treatment of trauma because I know how limiting unresolved trauma can be. After all, is there anyone who has not experienced trauma? I don''t think so, because being traumatized is part of the human experience. We can be unaware of how our life experience has affected us.

Self-discovery is a priority in life and in therapy. Self-knowing, or knowing one''s self, is a requirement for a healthy and satisfying life. I believe this is an important part of therapy and personal growth. What can you know if you don''t first know yourself?
