My Approach to Therapy

Specializing in working with clients experiencing PTSD, Military Veterans, Individuals with Mood Disorders, Mens Issues, Stress Management, Life Management Coaching, EthnicCultural Issues, and Anxiety, Jamie brings added value to therapy with unique perspective from lived experience. As an immigrant from Taiwan, Jamie grew up in a rough area of NYC overcoming adversity, trauma, and familial generational trauma to later join the Army as an Infantryman after 911 serving for three years including a tour in Iraq in 2004. While at his last duty station, Jamie fell in love with Texas and has made it his home. After his time in the Army, Jamie reflected on his own life while searching for ways to serve the community, and found the counseling program at St. Edward's University in Austin and enrolled. Jamie has spent the last 13 years serving in community mental health in ATX working with Individuals and families with severe and persistent illness at all levels of care from inpatient, outpatient, crisis in the community and individual practice. He is relatable, and is an avid traveler, published photographer, a concertgoer, and is a former competitive powerlifter as well. The most common feedback Jamie has heard from clients over the years is that his direct approach and honest feedback while being compassionate and flexible have been invaluable as they explore their healing journey.
