My Approach to Helping
Hello, I honor the courageous step you have taken towards reclaiming your wellbeing and connection to yourself, your loved ones and your community. I work through a mindfulness-based, body-centered and relational approach to psychotherapy. Together we can deepen your understanding and connection to yourself, work through shame, confusion, and self-judgment, as well as begging to understand and communicate your feelings and needs. I specialize in work with LGBTQIA+ and adults struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, and grief, as well as identity, sexuality, and life transitions.
As a partner on your journey, I pledge to continually show up with an open, loving heart. It is with joy that I offer you a space for support and healing. Whether you are sad, happy, irritated, angry, or silly, all parts of you are welcome here.
How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist
I did not always know that I wanted to be a therapist however I have always known that I am deeply touched by and nourished by deep, meaningful relationships and naturally attune to the emotional experiences in myself and in others. My heart has continually pulled me in the direction of social services such as volunteering and working for local nonprofit organizations, assisting children with developmental disabilities, and running support groups.
It was once I faced my own feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, and crippling doubt that I began my journey to health and joy which also launched me on the path to becoming a psychotherapist. I began seeing a therapist, I read and listened to everything by Tara Brach, and then went on my first meditation retreat. These acts of self-care, and kindness changed my whole life, and it is the reason why I am here now offering a space for your healing.
